Web Content

$35-50/hour — Original: 2-5 hours per page. Update: 1-3 hours per page. Research, conceptualize and write original Web content. Edit, proof and revise. Assumes an average of 350 words per page. Marketing objectives, competitor’s information, page descriptions and some source material provided by client.

Brochure Copy (printed or electronic)

$40-50/hour — 3-4 hours per panel. Research, conceptualize and write original copy. Edit, proof and revise. Research, conceptualize and write original Web content. Edit, proof and revise. Assumes two-sided, six-panel brochure measuring 8-1/2” x 11” unfolded.

Articles

$40-50/hour — 10-20 hours. Interview, transcribe, research, write, edit, proof and revise. Photography, including file transfer. Assumes 500-1000 word article with photos, headings and captions. Some subject material provided by client.

Newsletters (printed or electronic)

$40-50/hour — 16-24 hours. Meet with marketing team/ designer. Interview, transcribe, research, write, edit proof, revise. Photography, including file transfer. Assumes three to four 200-400 word articles with photos and captions. Some subject material provided by client. Does not include distribution.

Presentations

$40-50/hour — 3-4 hours per page. Coordination with sales/marketing team/designer. Research, write, edit, proof and revise. Assumes an average 350 words per page.

Technical Writing

User Guide (e.g., product manual)

$40-50/hour — New Product: 3-5 hours per page. Update: 1-2 hours per page.

Research, prepare, interview SMEs, write, graphics prep, screen captures, index. 

Assumes an average user guide (20-80 pages) of moderate complexity. Availability of existing style guide, SMEs and source docs will significantly impact time.

Operator’s Manual (e.g., installation, maintenance, safety, SOPs)

$40-50/hour — New Product: 3-5 hours per page. Update: 1-3 hours per page.

Interview operators to determine product purpose, functionality, safety considerations, and operating steps. Write, screen capture, graphics prep, photographs, edit, index.

Assumes established format and boilerplate language. Factor extra time (10 hours) to design template if none exists. Product SMEs must be available as-needed.

Policy and Procedural Manual (e.g., internal company documentation, SOPs)

$40/hour — New System: 3-5 hours per page. Update: 1-3 hours per page.

Interview users to determine purpose and procedures. Write, screen capture, graphics prep, process/procedure flows/diagrams, edit, and table of contents.

Assumes established format and boilerplate language. Factor extra time (10 hours) to design template if none exist. SMEs must be available and have advanced familiarity with company.


Presentation Documentation (e.g., content, or materials for screen share)

$40-50/hour — Approximately 2-5 hours per 10 minutes of presentation content. Research and write original (or edit, proof and revise existing) event content. May include drafting and/or editing PowerPoint or other collateral for use during event. Factor extra time for template designs if none exists. Event SMEs/Contacts must be available as-needed.

Responsive Customer Service

$30-50/hour — Pre-, Mid-, and/or Post-event friendly “help desk” services to include troubleshooting and resolution via phone, email, or chat. Service includes custom tracking logs and scheduled debriefings upon request. Event SMEs/Contacts must be available to provide direction as-agreed.

Debrief reports

$30-60/hour — New Product: 3-5 hours per page. Update: 1-3 hours per page. High-level reporting of key metrics as captured by data pulled from analytics, CRM software, etc; via text, tables, and graphs.

Assumes established reporting template or style guide, and captured event data available for analysis. Factor extra time if report is designed from scratch or for data mining. Event SMEs must be available as-needed.
